Good habits start at home, and it’s especially true when it comes to creating a routine for taking care of your oral health.

When children learn how to properly care for their teeth, you’re helping to set them up for success later in life. A healthy smile builds confidence and promotes good overall health, which is something all parents and guardians want for their children.

We all know that children don’t love doing anything that’s boring, but you can make oral care fun and interesting with surprisingly low effort!

Here are some of our favorite creative tips to making brushing fun at home:

  1. Put on a 2-minute song during brushing time. Using whatever device you use to play music, you can find songs that are 2 minutes long to play while brushing. 2 minutes is the recommended time dentists suggest to spend brushing your teeth. Find fun songs that your kids will enjoy listening to, or sit down with them and choose the songs together.
  2. Brush your teeth alongside your kids. This sets a good example for how to brush teeth, and it’s also a nice opportunity for some quality family time!
  3. Purchase kid-friendly dental products. There are many products on the market that are catered to children and families, making it fun and playful. These include flavored toothpaste, character toothbrushes, colorful flossers, and much more.
  4. Make each day different. No one likes routine, especially kids! Change up tooth cleaning time by switching around products, like using different character toothbrushes, different color themes, different music to play… You get the idea!
